Pioneering Sustainable Plastic Solutions Since 1975

Our story of plastic began in the year 1975. Our industrious Founder, Rajan Lall, started ITL – the largest Interlining & Trims business in India with offices across all its metropolitan cities. His booming success there and his sharp business acumen gained him the prospect to cover the Middle East region as a licensee of A&E Products (then a part TYCO Group, a Fortune-500 company). Garment Trims and Accessories (GTA) was thus established as a branch of the ITL Industries Limited with Rajan Lall at its helm, as Chairman and Managing Director.

Recognizing his formidable potential as a stalwart in the field, Mainetti – the world’s largest manufacturers of hangers, appointed GTA as a licensee to sell and subsequently manufacture hangers in the middle east and India, consequent to their takeover of A&E.

As Mainetti’s sustainability story evolved, GTA complemented its demands by working on recycling plastic right from the raw materials to its final product. A great visionary, Mr. Lall recognized the impact that plastic has on the environment, and was inspired by Mainetti’s resolve to make sustainability an integral part of their business. He took his learning from Mainetti and transferred it to other products within GTA, thus revolutionizing how plastic products were made in the region.

Our CEO & Successor, Nikhil Lall, has propelled our company’s efforts towards sustainability and modernization with a youthful impetus, making us one of the biggest names in the evolution of recycled plastic in the region.

1975 The beginning of the story
Our founder, Rajan Lall started ITL, the largest interlining and trims business in India. With offices across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, his success there gained him the prospect to cover the Middle East as a licensee of A&E products
2000 GTA Plastics is established in Ajman
GTA Plastics was established as a branch of the ITL industries by its founder Rajan Lall. It commenced operations as a licensee of A&E Products to sell hangers in the Middle East and India
2001 Nikhil Lall joins GTA Plastics
Nikhil, a graduate from Rochester University, USA, joined GTA Plastics as Rajan’s successor, bringing with him a youthful impetus and fresh ideas. Retaining the organization’s well established principles of integrity and constant evolution, Nikhil has ensured that the plastic story continues to upcycle itself.
2002 – GTA Plastics acquires an existing plastic injection molding factory in JAFZA
This strategic move paved the way for GTA Plastics to transition from trading to manufacturing, thereby establishing it firmly in the domain of plastic products.
2005 – New territory that goes beyond the hanger business
GTA Plastics shifted gears by shutting down its Indian operations. The focus was diversification by venturing into new categories – Injection molded Industrial pails and Battery casings. Three distinct verticals emerged – Garment Hangers / Industrial Pails / Battery casings
2006 – Mainetti acquires A&E and appoints GTA Plastics as its Licensee
This was a game changing year! Europe’s largest hanger manufacturing company – Mainetti acquires A&E Products, which was America’s largest. This acquisition made Mainetti the world’s largest hanger manufacturing company, with a truly global footprint. GTA Plastics were appointed as their sole licensee in the Middle East, Jordan and Africa.
2008 – GTA Plastics establishes factory in Jordon
As the quota system in the UAE came to a halt, garment exporters moved to new countries which had free trade status. With the foresight of our founder, we established our first manufacturing unit outside the UAE, in Jordon, to counter this move. This bold decision was also the reason we survived the impending recession and started making plans to open more factories in Africa
2009 & 2010 – Factories set up in Kenya, Madagascar and Swaziland
With new factories, came new ideologies. As Mainetti upcycled its hanger story for some of our noted brands like JC Penny, Macy’s, Walmart and Calvin Klein, we transitioned from virgin plastic to recycled plastic for hangers
2012 & 2013 - Battery Casing – Exide & Eternity Technologies / Recycled Hangers
Our initial tie-up with Exide kickstarted our manufacturing unit for automotive battery casings for cars in the GCC. We currently manufacture traction battery casings for forklifts for Eternity Technologies and have expanded our reach to the European markets. In 2012, we successfully developed hangers made from recycled raw material.
2018 – GTA Plastics develops the first Traction battery casings using recycled plastic
Our quest towards sustainability has led us to innovative approaches to our products. This is the year we made traction battery casings for forklifts using recycled plastic replacing virgin raw material.
2022 GTA Plastics introduces the 20Ltr pail using 100% recycled plastic
This was a great milestone for us as our 20Ltr industrial pail made from recycled plastic passed all the performance tests to match the tenacity of virgin plastic. It remains the driving factor for our ambition to upcycle our pails in the future.
2024 GTA Plastics introduces IML
In addition to screen printing and HTF (Heat Transfer Foils), GTA Plastics introduces state-of-the-art IML (In Mold Labeling) printing option.
